Louisville MetroSafe Academy News

The Louisville MetroSafe 911 Center was nominated for the NG911 Outstanding 911 Center:

“MetroSafe911 remained dedicated to their life-saving mission and continued to offer the critical services needed to keep the greater Louisville community safe. By offering innovative methods of communication to help combat a high call volume, like 911 chats, MetroSafe911 was able to better serve citizens and get them the information they needed regarding COVID-19 restrictions and fraud information. Additionally, Metro proactively sent out notifications via the Rave Alert emergency notification system to alert the public about COVID-19 curfews notices and restrictions, and used targeted notifications based on location to inform different groups about the ongoing protests. Likewise, the agency leverages tools like Smart911, which allows individuals to create Safety Profiles for themselves and their families, to ensure MetroSafe911 and responding agencies can provide the most informed response possible to the community.

Faced with challenge after challenge this year, Metro managed to maintain operations and strived to keep the community safe even when emergencies shook their own building. Because of its dedication in spite of so much adversity and use of innovative technology to overcome hurdles presented by the unprecedented events of this year, the Louisville Metro Emergency Services team is a true leader in the 9-1-1 community.”

Normally, the awards are presented in Washington, D.C., however, due to issues with COVID-19, they were held virtually. The nomination focused on the work done by the Louisville MetroSafe 911 Center during the pandemic, riots, protests and a fire in their 911 center building.
