Louisville MetroSafe Academy News

While the telecommunicator’s role to meet required certification is well defined by the Kentucky Revised Statutes, the minimal training conducted at MetroSafe to meet these guidelines are no substitute for specific on-the-job training. The following students of Louisville MetroSafe Telecommunications Academy #37 completed their 180 hours of telecommunications:

The training is defined, demonstrated, monitored and evaluated daily by experienced personnel for a period of 5 weeks. The telecommunications academy included Introduction, Orientation, Standard Operating Procedures, Call Classifications, Basic Caller Management Techniques, Basic Phone, Stress Management, Introduction to CAD, Basic CAD Addressing, TDD & TTY, Call Documentation, Critical Incidents & Responder Safety, Family Violence across the Lifespan, CIT and Suicidal Callers, Legal Issues, NIMS, Mapping, American Heart Association – CPR, Fire Services, EMS Terminology, EMS Dispatch & Tracking, Weekly Chapter Tests, Event Quizzes, Practical’s, Final Practical’s & Test and Final Written Test. They also completed their Power Phone Foundation, T CPR, EMD and CJIS online courses.
