On November 16, 2019, the Lexington Division of Enhanced 911 became the first 911 center in Kentucky to achieve Public Safety Communications Accreditation through CALEA. Accredited status means that Lexington’s Division of Enhanced 911 was found to be in compliance with 213 standards representing state-of-the-art policies, procedures and practices. CALEA standards were developed jointly by CALEA and the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International, Inc. (APCO), which is the largest public safety communications organization in the world. The accreditation award is for four years.
