Eric Black

Eric Black currently serves as the Law Enforcement Coordinator for the Western District of Kentucky United States Attorney's Office. Eric retired from Louisville Metro Police Department in 2019 after serving 24 years with the department. He graduated valedictorian of the Department of Criminal Justice Training's Basic Academy Class #239 in 1995. His career in law enforcement started with the Jefferson County Police Department where he served in the Charlie District Patrol and Charlie District Detective Squad. He spent two years in the Major Case Unit before the merger of Jefferson County Police Department and Louisville Metro Police Department. After being promoted at Louisville Metro Police Department, Eric supervised district-level narcotics enforcement, the business/Bank Robbery Squad, and was Task Force Commander of the Appalachia HIDTA Parcel Interdiction Task Force comprised of Louisville Metro Police Department, the Kentucky State Police, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. While serving at the Louisville Metro Police Department, Eric became and remains a Kentucky Law Enforcement Council certified instructor. In 2018, he was named Appalachia HIDTA Task Force Officer of the Year. Eric serves on the Instructor Certification Committee.
