APS Class 86 Graduates

On Aug. 27, Gov. Andy Beshear and the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) announced that 23 law enforcement officers from agencies across the commonwealth have graduated the Academy of Police Supervision (APS). APS, also called the sergeant’s academy, is a three-week, 122-hour training program targeted for newly promoted sergeants or officers who are on their agency’s promotion list to become sergeants.


School Risk Assessment Report Released

In large part due to Gov. Andy Beshear’s $18.2 million budget allocation to help schools fund the necessary secure access control measures, nearly 100% of Kentucky schools are compliant with the School Safety and Resiliency Act (SSRA), according to the first school risk assessment report generated by the law.

On August 19, Gov. Andy Beshear and the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) announced that 28 law enforcement officers from agencies across the state have graduated the basic training academy.

The Mexican border is more than 1,200 miles away from Kentucky. Still, drug cartel activity in that country has had a direct impact on the Bluegrass State, according to Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) Instructor Walt Ridener.
