Proposed and New Reciprocity Legislation Affecting KLEC
On March 9, 2018, 503 KAR 1:140 had an emergency regulation change to address reciprocity. If a reciprocity was denied because the applicant’s basic training hours did not meet the minimum hours for the same year in Kentucky, and the applicant worked at least 3 years full time with at least 1 year in the state where basic training was completed and their basic academy was at least 300 hours, then a basic training credit of 50 hours for each year of their full time service can be added to the hours for credit. This is currently in place for reciprocity applicants.
A further proposed legislation change is being drafted to 503 KAR 1:140 for section 10, which could additionally enhance the reciprocity regulation for the 2019-legislation session.
