Nathan Kent

Colonel Nathan C. Kent graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.  He attended the Kentucky State Police Academy in 1994 and was initially assigned as a Trooper to the Mayfield Post.  During his career with the Kentucky State Police, Nathan served as a Field Training Officer, Field Sergeant, Administrative Sergeant, Detective Lieutenant, Director of Post Operations and the 911 Communication Center, Staff Officer at Headquarters, and Commander of both the Frankfort and Mayfield Posts.

Nathan graduated from the Department of Criminal Justice Training’s Academy of Police Supervision and has earned the Career Development Program’s Law Enforcement Chief Executive certificate.  Chief Kent graduated with Class 222 at the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy in Quantico.

After he retired from KSP, Nathan served as the Area One Manager for the Department of Military Affairs’ Kentucky Emergency Management Division. He was appointed Chief of Police for the City of Mayfield in July 2016.

Nathan is married to Dr. Lori Kent and is the proud father of three adult children, Alexis, Jacob, and Emily. 

Chief Kent serves on the Curriculum Committee.
