Michael Delaney

A native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Chief Michael Delany began his career twenty-four years ago with the Bowling Green Police Department.  With extensive experience in leadership and management, he has held the positions of Sergeant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and the Commander of the Critical Response Team (SWAT). Chief Delaney has served in numerous roles, held various assignments, and was the first African American ever to hold this distinguished position at the department. 

He is a graduate of the Criminal Justice Executive Development program of the Department of Criminal Justice Training, The Southern Police Institute of the University of Louisville, and the Federal Law Enforcement Leadership Academy in Glynco, Georgia. Chief Delaney has an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s in Business. He is pursuing a Master’s Degree at the University of the Cumberlands. He and his wife, Tiffany, are the proud parents of their young son, Myles. 

Chief Delaney serves on the Professional Standards Committee.
