Anthony Lucas became a police officer for the City of Independence, Kentucky in May 1991.
Has served all 28 years with the Independence Police Department. He is a graduate of Kentucky’s Criminal Justice Executive Development Program, the Northern Kentucky Leadership Program and the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy.
During his tenure with the Independence Police Department, he has served in the following capacities: Police Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Assistant Chief. Furthermore, he served as head of the Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Section, and as the Media Liaison for the department. He was coordinator of the Citizen's Police Academy for several years. He currently serves as the President of the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police and has been Chief of Police for the City of Independence since 2015.
Chief Lucas is married to Lori and they have two adult sons, Drew and Chad. Chief Lucas will serve on the Curriculum Committee.
