Chuck Dills

Chuck Dills is the County Judge Executive of Grant County. His law enforcement career has spanned over 3 decades. He started in 1988 with the Dry Ridge Police Department as a patrol officer and was promoted up to the rank of captain. In 1994 he accepted a position at the Grant County Sheriff ’s Office as a road deputy with the goal of one day running for sheriff. During that time he served as a road deputy, nine years as the chief deputy, and then in 2006 was elected sheriff, as Grant Counties youngest and first certified trained Sheriff. In January 2015, Sheriff Dills was re-elected into his third term as sheriff.

Sheriff Dills has attended Eastern Kentucky University, Northern Kentucky University and The Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training with several thousand hours of federal and state law enforcement training and holds a number of law enforcement certifications. He received advanced training as a hostage negotiator by the FBI. During his career at the sheriff ’s office, Sheriff Dills implemented the school resource officer program in the school system, started the Sheriff ’s Explorer program and implemented the Drug K-9 program. He was also the first sheriff in the state of Kentucky to merge the city police into the sheriff ’s office to eliminate duplication of services.

Sheriff Dills serves on many community boards and holds an elected position on the Kentucky Sheriff ’s Association, as a Board of Director. Sheriff Dills is a lifelong native of Grant County and a 1983 graduate of Grant County High School. Sheriff Dills retired from law enforcement in August 2018 to run for County Judge Executive for Grant County and was elected to that position. He serves on the Instructor Certification Committee as Chairman.
